Competitve Program
Orange
Orange is the FUNdamentals level program for beginner competitive swimmers.
In this program, swimmers focus on developing essential skills for competitive swimming. They will work on stroke techniques, starts, and turns while being introduced to race strategies. Swimmers will also have the opportunity to participate in local development meets, building both confidence and experience. Along the way, they’ll begin fostering important values like sportsmanship and teamwork, preparing them for future success in the sport.
- 3 hours per week
- Option of 2 or 3 training sessions per week
- Typically 8-10 years old
Required equipment: goggles and a bathing suit. All other equipment is supplied by the Charlottetown Bluephins, including a swim cap and team t-shirt.
- 6 hours per week
- 4 training sessions per week
- Typically 10-12 years old
Required equipment: goggles, bathing suit, fins, flutter board, pull buoy, mesh bag. Swim cap and team t-shirt are supplied by the Charlottetown Bluephins.
Jr. Masters
Jr. Masters is an intermediate level program for swimmers to train as competitive swimmers, but are seeking a lighter training schedule. It is ideal for multi-sport athletes, new competitive swimmers who are entering the program in their teen years, and swimmers who wish to continue training in the pool for fun and fitness. Jr. Masters can register as competitive swimmers to attend meets as a Charlottetown Bluephins team member on request.
Note: Jr. Masters is not swimming lessons, and requires that swimmers can, at a minimum, swim one length of the pool prior to registration.
- 4.5 hours per week
- 3 training sessions per week
- Typically age 12 -18 years old
Required equipment: goggles, bathing suit, fins, hand paddles. The swim cap is supplied by the Charlottetown Bluephins. A team t-shirt is supplied if the swimmer registers as a competitive swimmer.
Senior 2
Senior 2 is the Train to Train level program for experienced intermediate swimmers.
In this program, swimmers focus on fundamental mastery, goal development, and improving their racing strategy. They will participate in local, regional and inter-provincial meets as they increase their level of competition. There is an increased emphasis on training and commitment.
Swimmers who would like to continue training and competing, but would like a reduced schedule, are encouraged to consider our Jr. Master's Program.
- 9 hours per week
- 6 training sessions per week
- Typically 12-14 years old
Required equipment: goggles, bathing suit, fins, flutter board, pull buoy, paddles, strap, mesh bag. Swim cap and team t-shirt are supplied by the Charlottetown Bluephins.
- 13.5 hours per week in the pool
- 1.5 hours per week of dryland strength training
- 9 training sessions per week
- Typically 14 years old and up
