Pre-Competitive Program
Our Pre-Competitive programs introduce young swimmers to the basics of competitive swimming, with a focus on having fun, making friends, staying fit, and learning the fundamentals.
- 6 to 10 years old
- Previous swimming experience
- Ability to swim one width of the leisure pool
Program Schedule
Pre-competitive programs are offered in 10-week blocks, 3 times per year. Swimmers are assessed at the end of each session and appropriately placed based on that assessment. From time to time, a swimmer may be promoted to the Competitive Program
Miniphins
Miniphins is for swimmers aged 6-8 with the ability to swim, unaided, 2 lengths of the leisure pool. Practice will focus on developing stroke technique and proficiency, concentrating on front and back crawl. The goal is to be able to perform all the skills required at this level and gain sufficient endurance to swim 2 lengths in the leisure pool without stopping.
- 40-minute sessions
- Up to 3 sessions per week
- Scheduled days are Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 4:00 - 4:40 PM or 4:50-5:30 PM
Required equipment: Bathing suit
Recommended equipment: Goggles and swim cap
Ultraphins
Ultraphins is typically for swimmers aged 8-10 who are at a standard expected after 2 years of Miniphins. Some swimmers may reach the standard early. They will learn basic competitive swimming skills and are ready for increased training time. Training will focus on stroke technique, proficiency, streamlining, and dives with the goal of being able to perform all the skills required at this level, and gain sufficient endurance to swim 2 lengths in the competition pool without stopping. This is in preparation for Orange, where they will be training in the introductory level of the Competitive Program.

- Up to 3 sessions per week
- Scheduled days are Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 4:00 - 5:00 PM or 5:00 - 6:00 PM
