Shannon Cunningham
Head Development Coach

I was born in London Ontario, but grew up on the beaches of Sarasota, Florida. This is where my love of the water began. I started my competitive swimming with the Sarasota YMCA Sharks were I had the opportunity to be a multi event qualifier and finalist competing in the YMCA Nationals, Florida All Stars and Junior Olympics.

While competing with my local team I also swam with my high school swim team (Riverview High School) and was a state qualifier all four years focusing in the 100m backstroke. Throughout my tenure with the Sharks and Riverview Rams, I learned the fundamentals of hard work, dedication both in and out of water, and the importance of transferring these lessons to my daily life.

I completed an Associates Degree from UCF in Orlando then moving to Ontario I graduated in 2009-2010 with a degree Visual and Creative Arts from Sheridan College. For five years I worked with the Atlantis School of Swim in Oakville. I began as a youth swim instructor and while I still spent time in the pool in a teaching role, I quickly became on-deck supervisor, in no small part thanks to my extensive swimming background. In 2013 I joined the Blue Fins team where I continue to teach the joy and passion for competitive swimming as I had enjoyed as a young child.

Evan Harvey
Senior Competitive Coach

I began swimming for the Blue Fins in 2013 at the age of 7, starting all the way back in the old Intro program. Recently, I have made the decision to move from the National Development program to the Master’s program so that I can coach full time.

I grew up in Georgetown and when I moved to Erin, I didn’t want to leave Coach Shannon and so my family made the weekly drives into Georgetown. I have always been in love with the water starting at a very young age. I started my swimming journey at the age of 3 months!

I have been a Mini Fins Coach and Junior Coach over the years with HHBF. In the Fall of 2023, I decided to move from Junior Coaching to Senior Coaching and I took my Swimming 101. I really fell in love with the coaching role from Junior Coaching alongside Coach Shannon and Coach Chris and felt the move to Senior Coaching was the path I wanted to go down. I strive to become the best coach that I can and with the great Blue Fins community I believe that we can accomplish anything we put our minds to whether that be Provincial, National or Olympic Trials.

I look forward to continuing my coaching journey with the Blue Fins.

Senior Competitive Coach

I grew up in Georgetown and began swimming with the Halton Hills Blue Fins at the age of 8. I swam competitively for 10 years with the Halton Hills Blue Fins, COBRA, and MSSAC, with my last year of competitive swimming being spent competing for the Halton Hills Blue Fins. Additionally, I swam for the GDHS swim team, qualifying for OFSAA each year and medaling in my graduating year.

I obtained my NCCP 101 coaching certification in 2018, and since that time I have gained hands-on coaching experience with the Halton Hills Blue Fins, Mississauga Aquatic Club and the Brock Niagara Aquatic Club. Currently, I am in the final year of my undergraduate degree at Brock University and I am in the process of obtaining my NCCP 201 certification.

I am thrilled to come back and coach for the team that started my lifelong passion for all things swimming and I hope to see you around the pool deck!

Colin Bouchard
Junior Competitive Coach

Coach Colin has always had a love for swimming, moving quickly through community swimming lessons.  He joined the Blue Fins as an Intro swimmer at the age of 10.  He has swam competitively with HHBF for the last 7 years and has also swam with the Georgetown District High School Swim Team.

He started his coaching journey with the HHBF Mini Fins Program 3 years ago and last season was a HHBF Mini Fins and Intro White Junior Coach, working closely alongside Coach Shannon.

In the Winter of 2024, Colin decided he would like to pursue coaching and completed his National Coaching Certification Program, obtaining his Swimming 101.  He thoroughly enjoys working with the development swimmers to bring fun and passion to the sport as they develop their skills and training for the transition into competitive level swimmers.

David Vulpoi
Junior Competitive Coach

I've been swimming for over 15 years and am proud to say that all my years have been with the Blue Fins. I joined the club as a Mini-Fin and swiftly moved up through the ranks. I started swimming in 2009 and swam competitively for 12 years. While I enjoy all aspects of swimming, my true passion lies in Breaststroke and Freestyle, particularly in short-distance events like the 50m and 100m. These races have always challenged me to push my limits and refine my technique.

My coaching journey began with the Mini-Fins, where I discovered my love for teaching and mentoring young swimmers. I then progressed to the role of Junior Coach, gaining valuable experience in leadership and team dynamics. After taking a brief break from coaching to focus on my own development, I returned this summer with renewed energy and a renewed purpose. I became 101 Certified, a milestone that has allowed me to take on more responsibility within the Club. Currently, I coach groups such as Junior Blue, Senior Blue, and Senior White, where I strive to inspire and guide swimmers to reach their full potential.

I’m really looking forward to my future with the Blue Fins. I’m eager to learn new skills and techniques from my colleagues, deepen my understanding of the sport, and continue to grow as a coach and individual. I’m also excited to connect with the team on a deeper level, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose. Swimming has always been more than just a sport to me—it’s a community, a passion, and a way of life. I’m grateful for the opportunities the Blue Fins have given me and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Ally Bennett
Junior Competitive Coach

I began swimming in 2008 when I joined the Halton Hills Blue Fins’ Mini-Fin program. From the moment I started, I fell in love with the water and knew the pool was where I truly belonged. For the next 12 years I continued to pursue my passion as a competitive swimmer with the Blue Fins until I graduated high school in 2020. Not ready to step away just yet, I continued my career as a varsity swimmer at Acadia University for three more years before officially retiring from competitive swimming in 2023.

I began my coaching journey in high school with the Mini-Fins program, I then advanced to a junior coaching role, where I worked with both developmental and junior competitive swimmers. While I always loved being in this role, it wasn’t until I continued my studies at university that I fully recognized the depth of my passion for coaching.

I believe swimming is more than just a sport, it instills valuable lessons that extend far beyond the pool. As a coach, I am committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where athletes feel heard, valued, and empowered to push their limits, helping them reach their full potential both in and out of the water.

Now that I have completed my bachelor of kinesiology and obtained my NCCP swimming 101 certification I could not be more excited to be back on the pool deck and apart of the HHBF family!

Patrick Koehler
Dryland Coach

Although I grew up as a soccer player, swimming has been a large part of my life over the past 10 years.

From 2012 to 2014 I swam for the Halton Hills Blue Fins. I swam for the GDHS swim team for all four years of high school, and in my senior year I was a captain of the swim team. I continue to volunteer as a coach for them in my spare time.

In 2022, I graduated from the Sports Management Program at Niagara College. I recently obtained my NCCP 101 in triathlon and swimming.

I am excited to coach dryland and help out around the pool where I can.
