Heats saw the girl 200 freestylers advance to finals with decent morning efforts. Jasmine Whelan won a bellringer heat in 200 back and Victoria Montgomery swam through to the finals. 50 free was last event for us and Sara Whelan went a bt to go through to the final. Sherry averaged just under 1:10 per 100 m LC to claim the 5k crown on the final day of competition at World Trials. Her time was 58:11.34.
Emily Gerson led off the morning with 200 back finishing 7th in the fastest non seeded heat. Stefan finished 2nd in his heat wirh a pb of 2:10.38. Kristine Lawson in 50 Fr went pb of 27.28 for second in her heat 800 Fr was last event for us and Sherry Liu in the second fastest heat went 8:54.96 for a pb. Sherry finished 8th overall and is 7th fastest Canadian in the 800 Fr. Emily Gerson went bt as well.
Sherry Liu third in her heat with a pb 2:06.49 (200 Free). Stefan up next and wins his heat from lane 1 in a pb of 1:57.91 (200 Free). Rudi Plesch in 50 Br went pb 31.02. In 100 Back Emily Gerson was pb 1:07.05 for 2nd in her heat and Kristine Lawson breaks the club record with her swim of 1:04.96. Abi Sayer's 100 Fly was a pb of 1:07.15
Sherry Liu NATIONAL CHAMPION in the 1500 Fr ! Great effort from Sherry to smash her heat and race to the gold medal in 16:52.17. This is Sherry's first National Medal. Stefan also swam Bt in 400 IM at 4:44.54. Abi Sayer had a solid 400 IM as well. Rudi Plesch swam Bt in 100 Breast as did Kristine Lawson in 100 Fr.
Rudi Plesch finished 4th in the B final in BT 2:20.06. The womens 400 Fr Relay went 4:03.01. Exciting races throughout the night as swimmers vied for World Championship Team positions.
Abi Sayer heat winner and pb of 2:21.21 to finish 20th overall. Next Sherry Liu 400 Fr second pb 4:23.46. Rudi Plesch qualifies 13th for tonight with a pb 2:20.37 in 200 Breast. Next up 50 back and Emily Gerson touches second in her heat with pb 31.75. Kristine Lawson wins her heat pb time 30.29. New Club Record !! Stefan Milosevic in 800 Free wins his heat with 8:41.07.
