Red Deer Silhouettes is excited to offer Alberta Artistic Swimming, Adaptive Programing

Alberta Artistic Swimming offers a competitive Adaptive Program for Athletes with a Disabilities Program. There are 5 levels of progression to fit the needs of any athlete and their level of skill abilities. There is a physical and cognitive AWAD program to fit the needs of any individuals with special needs.

Our athletes in this program will train 2 or 3 hours a week, where they work on skill development at their level, and work on creating an artistic swimming routine. Athletes in different levels are able to mix together to create a duet or team, but would participate in individual figures events in their strongest level. Athletes can also participate in a solo routine event.

I also have the Ability to Mix athletes with to create Mixed Abilites Duets. This is where Adaptive and Non Adaptive athletes can pair up to creat a routine to compete!

Athletes in this program get the opportunity to travel to Calgary & Edmonton to compete in 3 competitions throughout the season.

Testimonials:
"As a parent of an AWAD athlete with the Red Deer Silhouettes Swim Club, I would highly recommend this organization for any athlete who has physical/mental/social challenges and a love of the water! Our daughter has always loved the water and enjoyed artistic swimming.  When it came time to look at enrolling her in the competitive stream, I was reluctant, as there was a disparity between the competitive skill level requirements and her personal skill level.  I reached out to the coaches of the Red Deer Silhouettes Swim Club and they enthusiastically informed us of the AWAD stream for our daughter.  This stream allows athletes with a disability to be able to participate in competitive artistic swimming with others of similar abilities.  Our daughter has had such a wonderful time in this stream with the Red Deer Silhouettes Swim Club. It has provided her with an opportunity to do something that she loves, but more importantly, she is able to feel just like any other competitive artistic swimmer. Her skills have grown immensely, as well as her confidence.  The coaching staff is incredible! They are patient, kind and compassionate and they think of the best ways to help our daughter learn. If you are looking for an inclusive, and fun activity for your child, you will not be disappointed with this organization." - Naomi Scheyen
