Great First Weekend of Racing for 12 & Under Rapids Swimmers October 31, 2011 The Richmond Rapids Swim Club had great showings at three of their developmental meets over the past weekend. Great Weekend in Annacortes October 5, 2011 The purpose this past weekend in Annacortes: to get some experience racing new swimmers in a new pool in a new part of North America. Twenty-five Richmond Rapids attended the annual ThunderBird Invitational in Annacortes, Washington. The result: some great finishes and times. Rapids' swimmers Nicholas Huen, Arvin Chua, Matthew Crawford, Steven Zhou, Ryan Murray, Kyle Chan and Richard Rakchtis were selected to the SwimBC 12 & under Regional camp. The camp takes the top 12 & under swimmers (male and female) based on their combined 200 IM and 200 free FINA points scores. The swimmers come together at Watermania for a 2 day regional training camp where they are swam in a variety of swim workouts and dryland training sessions. Congratulations to Hau-Li Fan, Mike Zhang, Maximillian Schaffler and Mike Jakac-Sinclair who have been selected for this year's BC Provincial Prospects swim camp. Fan was chosen as the IM specialist for 14 year old boys based off his performance at the Canadian Age Group Championships and Jakac-Sinclair was the wildcard. He had the next highest FINA point score in his specialty event. Zhang was chosen as the backstroker for 13 year old boys based on his BC AAA champs races while Maximillian Schaffler was the wildcard spot in his specialty....
