Kamloops, BC This past weekend at the Western Canada Games, the Rapids own Nicolaas Dekker capped off the summer with some outstanding perfomances. The competition provided some very fast swimming with a few competitors breaking provincial records and even a National age group record. Nic was one of 8 boys, 17 years old and younger to be selecetd to represent BC at the Games. From June 24th to 26th, 16 Rapids traveled to Kelowna for the BC AA Long Course Championships. " AA's" is the start of the the long course Championship season and what a start our team had! Leading the way for our team and also qualifying for the BC AAA Championships this week in Victoria were Austin Berry and Richard Rackchtis. In April and this past weekend the Rapids had a numer of swimmers chosen to participate in the Swim BC 12 & under regional camps. The swimmers were chosen amongst other swimmers 12 years old and younger from all over the lower mainland based on their performances this season in the 200 FR and 200 IM. Kyle Bower from the National Development group got the Rapids off to a great start at the hyack youth cup this weekend. Kyle dropped 3 seconds off his PB in the 200m fly (2:22.84) to qualify for this summers Age Group National Championships
Last weekend, 550 swimmers descended on Watermania to compete in what was the largest West Coast Open in Rapids history, making WCO the third largest meet in BC of the year and the largest in the LMR. With such a large stage to show off, the Rapids produced a lot of best times, top finishes, five of the 45 new meet records, and four new team records.
