This weekend is the 1st time Michael Phelps is competeing since the Bejing Olympics. At the Charlotte Ultra Swim Meet in North Carolina he won the 100 Butterfly and 200 FR setting a meet record. Members of Canada's national team are also competing. 15 year old Amanda Reason of Etobicoke, Ontario, a prospect for the 2012 London Olympics won the 100 BR in a time of 1:08.80! Check it out! Swimming Canada has made some changes to the Bonus swim rule for swimmers that have 1 Age Group National Qualifying time. To read about these changes, click here. To see the Age Group National ( or Age Group Champs as it will now be called) qualifying times, go to the "Groups & Notices" section.
At the WVOSC/SFU LMR Vincent Man in AGD 2 even split his 100 Backstroke to qualify for the BC AA Championships. Then just a few minutes later, PD 3's Mike Zhang rocked his 100 Backstroke as well to qualify for AAA's this July in Victoria! Way to go boys!

Richmond Rapids at Mies Schootman Invitational April 17 th to 19th the Richmond Rapids competed at the Mies Schootman Invitational at UBC aquatic centre. With over 40 swimmers in attendance, the Rapids swam very well considering it was the Rapids first Long-Course (50m pool configuration) competition of the year. The Rapids placed 5 th over-all, setting a new team record, acquiring a new Provincial Championship qualifier and 2 new Far Western Qualifiers. This past weekend at the Delta Sungod LMR, Nicole Welsh and Aleckxeis Aficionado qualified for the BC AAA Long Course Championships in Victoria this July! Nicole & Aleckxeis are both 1st time AAA qualifiers. Nicole (11) qualified with a time of 3:09 in the 200 Butterfly! Aleckxeis went a 6:01 400 Freestyle to qualify in the 10 & under category! Aleckxeis also went 39.19 for 50 Backstroke leading off the RAPIDS B medley relay team to beat the 10 & unders girls club record! Congratualtions girls!
