FINA Open Water Swimming Certification School for Officials scheduled to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador (ESA), from 31st May to 1 st June 2019.
The purpose of this course is to achieve the following objectives:
Enlarge the number of officials and improve officiating at Open Water Swimming competitions;
Unify the Open Water Swimming officiating procedure;
Use the course as an instrument to develop and promote Open Water Swimming worldwide.
Please note the following information related to the designation & courses for Open Water Swimming officials:
The FINA Open Water Swimming Certification Schools cater to experienced Open Water Swimming officials who require more in depth training of skills at an advanced level.
They are designed to prepare and certify highly qualified officials wishing to be on the FINA OWS Lists.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old on December 31 in the calendar year of attendance. Nevertheless, they must be aged 18 years or older in the year of attendance to receive certification.
Only participants who have successfully completed the test in English or French will become certified. Certification is valid for a four-year period.
In addition, each certified official must take the FINA Open Water Swimming Online Course which will be available in English on the FINA Learning Platform.
Officials who have passed the FINA Open Water Swimming Certification School Exam, the FINA Open Water Swimming Online Exam and who have officiated at a required level will be eligible for the FINA OWS Lists.

El propósito de este curso es lograr los objetivos siguientes:
- elevar el número de oficiales y reforzar la calidad de los existentes;
- crear un modelo uniforme de interpretación y aplicación de las Reglas de la Natación en Aguas Abiertas elevando así la calidad de oficiar.
- usar el curso como un instrumento para desarrollar y promover Mundialmente la Natación en Aguas Abiertas.
Por favor, tenga en cuenta la información siguiente relacionada con la designación & los cursos para Oficiales de Natación en Aguas Abiertas:
- Oficiales que han pasado una Escuela FINA OWS y hayan oficiado a un nivel requerido, recibirán una certificación que es válido para un período de 4 años.
- Oficiales FINA OWS que están en la Lista N° 12 (válido del 1 de enero de 2017 al 31 de diciembre de 2020): todas las nuevas aplicaciones, no incluyen las renovaciones, deben de haber asistido y deben de haber pasado una Escuela FINA OWS dentro de los cuatro años de la aplicación.
- Oficiales FINA OWS que están en la Lista N° 13 y todas las subsecuentes Listas de Oficiales OWS: todos los nuevos solicitantes y renovaciones deben de haber asistido y deben de haber pasado una Escuela FINA OWS dentro de los cuatro años de su aplicación.
- en las escuelas el idioma primario es inglés, aunque la traducción local puede proporcionarse.
