FINA Water Polo Development School for Referees  Christ Church, Barbados (BAR)

The purpose of this course is to achieve the following objectives: 

 Build a bigger group of qualified Water Polo referees, raising the level of the existing ones 

 Create world-wide uniformity in the interpretation and the application of Water Polo rules, raising the quality of officiating 

 Establish a point of reference for the FINA National Member Federations and the Continental Organisations’ education programmes Please note the following information related to the designation & development courses for Water Polo referees: 

 This school caters for starting referees, interested and willing to officiate at a National level and having ambition to continue at an International level 

 Candidates must be at least 16 years old at the start of the FINA Development School programme 

 No previous officiating experience is required Further information concerning the FINA Water Polo Schools and the referees’ certification process will be available on the FINA Learning Platform.

A FINA Water Polo Certification School for Referees is scheduled to be held in Miami, United States of America (USA), from 8th to 10th February 2019.
Participants must be registered through the FINA GMS by the 25th January 2019.
The purpose of this course is to achieve the following objectives:
 Enlarge the number of referees and enhance the quality of the existing ones;
 Create a uniform pattern of interpretation and application of Water Polo rules, thus raising the quality of refereeing;
 Use the school as an instrument to develop and promote Water Polo worldwide.
Please note the following information related to the designation & courses for Water Polo referees:
 The FINA Water Polo Certification Schools prepare and certify candidates seeking to become FINA Water Polo Referees or wishing to update their FINA title.
 Candidates must be 18 years old at the point of registration and have at least two years of practical experience as a Water Polo referee,
 To receive certification, a candidate must attend a FINA Water Polo Certification School and pass the test with a minimum score of 70%. 
 The certification is valid for a four-year period provided that the referee passes the FINA Water Polo Referees Online Exam every two years (available soon).
 Designation of FINA Water Polo Referees: only FINA certified candidates are eligible for the FINA Water Polo Referees List, subject to meeting the List criteria.

Please take into consideration the following points: 

  • Each National Federation may nominate their technical officials through the FINA GMS by the deadline for registrations. 
  • In order to submit each registration, please complete the participant's profile with the following information: personal data, passport copy or national ID, photo and the technical official's personal email address. Without this information in the GMS, the application is not valid.
Please note that only fully submitted registrations received within the established deadline will be considered for approval. 

 

                               

FINA Water Polo School for Referees 

I have the pleasure to send you the following information related to the organisation of the FINA Water Polo School for Referees scheduled to be held in Barranquilla, Colombia, from 23rd to 25th July 2018.

The purpose of this course is to achieve the following objectives:

  • Enlarge the number of referees and enhance the quality of the existing ones;
  • Create a uniform pattern of interpretation and application of Water Polo rules, thus raising the quality of refereeing;
  • Use the school as an instrument to develop and promote Water Polo worldwide.

Please note the following information related to the designation & courses for water polo referees:

  • The FINA Water Polo Schools are organized every year for new water polo referees seeking to become FINA Water Polo Referees and for water polo referees seeking to update their FINA title.
  • Designation of FINA Water Polo Referees: only the referees who have passed the final exam and received the title of “FINA Water Polo Referee” will be eligible for FINA competitions.
  • Update course: referees who passed the exam and received their FINA titles in 2016 have their update course in 2018, whereas referees who received their FINA title in 2017 will have their update course in 2019.

PARTICIPANTS:               Each National Member Federation may nominate water polo referees for this course.

REGISTRATION:               Please    kindly   note    that    the    specific discipline of the school must be added to the attendee’s GMS profile as well as his/her personal email address in order to submit the registration.  All participants must be registered by the 27th June 2018 in the FINA General Management System (GMS) using your federation login details. NATIONALITY:                  Please take into consideration that when a competition official represents his/her country in a competition, he/she shall be a citizen, whether by birth or naturalisation, of the nation he/she represents, provided that a naturalised citizen shall have lived in that country for at least one year prior to that competition (FINA Handbook - Edition 2017, General Rules 2.5).

ACCOMMODATION:  Each National Federation will cover the accommodation expenses of  the nominated referees.
