USA Swimming is committed to providing a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members.  USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, a comprehensive abuse prevention program, consists of a multi-layered approach to keep kids safe, including: required policies and best practice guidelines; mandatory screening, including criminal background checks and employment screening; training and education; monitoring, supervision and mandatory reporting.  These measures are informed by experts in the field of child safety and are among the strongest safeguards found in youth-serving organizations.

Accokeek Stroke Technique Swim Team (ASTS) and Potomac Valley Swimming (PVS) join USA Swimming in its committment to ensuring the protection of our athletes. To aid in this effort, please review the materials below to understand and spread the principles of USA Swimming's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) and other Safe Sport information. It is imperative that all athletes, parents, coaches, administrators, officials, and volunteers become familiar with these principles.

All ASTS swim team members are expected to comply with their respective Code of Conduct while taking part in any swim team activities. Similarly, it is expected that all members of ASTS including swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and parents adhere to a

     Swimmer-Centric philosophy.

‘Create an environment that allows swimmers the opportunity to reach their individual goals.’

  • ASTS requires all team members to acknowledge that they have read or had read to them the ASTS Code of Conduct that applies to them.
  • In addition, USA Swimming requires all clubs to have their athletes and families complete the Safe Sport Training. The Safe Sport Training is available as a Webinar or in the USA Swimming University (self paced).
