The Montrose Marlins Swim Club requires every swimmer and responsible parent(s) to sign and honor the Montrose Marlins Code of Conduct. Families will sign these codes of conduct during the annual registration period.

MONTROSE MARLINS SWIMMER CODE OF CONDUCT

As a swimmer of the Montrose Marlins program, I will conduct myself in the following manner.

___1. I understand that I am learning the skills and concepts of competitive swimming in an effective and respectful environment. Montrose Marlins coaches will provide a role in the program for every swimmer, but I will not be guaranteed equality, as every swimmer participates at a different level according to skill and commitment. Decisions concerning swimmers and their level of participation or placement into specific swim groups are solely the responsibility of the coaches.

___2. My attendance at practice and swim meets is welcomed and anticipated. I will conduct myself in a respectful manner by:

A. Showing appropriate sportsmanship toward all teams, swimmers, parents, fans, officials, coaches, and board members. I will refrain from using loud or profane language.

B. Participating as a member of a unit, showing respect for the team effort.

C. Accepting decisions made by coaches and board.

D. Discontinuing behavior deemed unacceptable at the request of board members, coaches, swimmers, officials or other fans. If I fail to honor such a request, it is within the rights of the Montrose Marlins board or any hosting organization’s staff to request that I leave the swimming area or the building.

E. Being concerned primarily with my own swimming, leaving control of other people at an event to the appropriate officials.

F. Showing respect for other swimmers, the coaches, and the officials.

G. Realizing that successful sportsmanship at a meet and at practice depends, to a large measure, on a swimmer’s actions. Thus a swimmer is courteous on the deck, in the locker room, in the pool and on the Montrose Recreation District premises as well as during away meets.

H. Making every honest effort to win a contest, but avoid deliberate actions which could cause harm to other swimmers.

I.  Maintaining acceptable standards of personal appearance.

 J. Showing respect for the facilities where practices and meets are held.
