Safe Sport Courses for Parents

Athlete Protection Education for Parents

Parents are a critical component to our overall goal of protecting children from sexual abuse. The comprehensive online programming includes information about how offenders operate; how to recognize and respond to boundary violations, myths and facts about child sexual abuse and USA Swimming’s Athlete Protection Policies and Procedures.

At the link above, parents can find two courses: Preventing Bullying and Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sport.

Preventing Bullying: Preventing Bullying will teach you the definition of bullying, how it shows up in the swimming environment, and ways you can maintain a healthy and positive environment on the pool deck.

Parent's Guide to Misconduct in Sport: This course is designed for swim parents to understand the Safe Sport program and their role in working with the swim club to provide a safe, healthy, and positive environment for the swimmers.

5 Safe Sport Tips for Parents

USA Swimming is committed to reducing the risk of abuse in swimming and increasing awareness of red flag behavior through its Safe Sport program. All adults working with athletes are responsible for creating an abuse-free environment. The resource linked above provides some helpful tips for how parents can help in that endeavor.

As a parent, should you ever have concerns about the safety of your child, bring it to the attention of your child's coach and club representative. If this is uncomfortable for you, please contact:
