About Niagara LSC

Niagara Swimming is one of 59 Local Swimming Committees (LSC) defined by the rules of USA Swimming.

The Local Swimming Committee (LSC) is a separate and independent corporation to whom USA Swimming has delegated certain governing and supervisory responsibilities within the geographic boundaries designated by USA Swimming. Each LSC shall have jurisdiction over the sport of swimming as delegated to it in the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations to conduct swimming programs consistent with the policies and procedures of USA Swimming and to sanction, approve, observe, oversee and conduct on behalf of USA Swimming competitive swimming events within the LSC boundaries.

Each LSC qualifies under USA Swimming’s group exemption as a tax-exempt organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and as an organization described in Sections 170(c)(2) and 2522(a) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code that may accept contributions, bequests, and gifts deductible for federal income and estate and gift tax purposes, respectively.

The USA Swimming rule book defines the geographic boundaries of Niagara LSC as:

NIAGARA (NI) — That portion of New York State west of and including the counties of Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland and Broome

Additionally, USA Swimming groups LSC's into Zones. Niagara LSC is grouped into the Eastern Zone along with Adirondack, Allegheny Mountain, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Metropolitan, Middle Atlantic, New England, New Jersey, Potomac Valley and Virginia LSC's.
