SARASOTA - Our Sarasota Sharks are three-peat national champions. Earlier this month, the swim team won the 2017 YMCA Short Course title. They swam their way to the top, defeating more than 70 teams. On the final night of the 2018 short course YMCA National Championships Sarasota won the combined team title ahead of Boise and York. The Sarasota men were dominant, while Somerset Hills’ relays depth success showed in the team scores as they finished second. OMAHA, NEBRASKA - Ten Sarasota Sharks are competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials. The heats start Sunday and run through July 3rd. Three Sarasota YMCA swimmers have qualified for the Olympics in the past and this year they are looking to send more. U.S. Masters Swimming and the Sarasota YMCA hosted the Fifth Pan-American Masters Championship. Twenty-six countries sent a total of 1,700 athletes, who participated in synchronized swimming, Masters swimming, and open water. This event marked the first time the U.S. has hosted it, and was open to any adult over the age of 18.
