Chris O'Linger Leads Spartans at NCAA Championships

 

Chris O’Linger, current GTSA club member, finished a big week at the 2009 Division II NCAA Championships in Houston , TX with a second place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (15:09.90).  He amassed 59 individual points over the week with a pair of second place finishes as well as a fifth and an eighth.  Chris’ other second place finish came in the 1,000 freestyle (9:04.12), while his fifth and eighth place finishes came in the 500 freestyle (4:24.15) and the 400 IM (3:56.24) respectively. O’Linger also led off the eighth place 800 freestyle relay, making him a 5 time All-American on the week. 



            Other GTSA swimmers participating at D II nationals were Megan Garland, Matt Kramer, Daniel Hernandez.  Megan became an All-American by being a part of the eighth place 800 freestyle relay, while Matt was a part of the fourth place 400 medley relay.  Although Coach Daniel did not final, he did represent GTSA well.  If you see any of these swimmers on the deck make sure to congratulate them on a job well done!
