5 Personal Bests Highlight Day 1 at Florida Age Group Championships

           After the first day of the 2011 Florida Age Group Championships GTSA finds themselves in 21st place with 27 total points.  Ally Donahue started the scoring with an 8th place finish in the 200 Breaststroke (2:54.67).  In the prelims Ally set a new best time of 2:49.33.  Ally's swim was followed up by Tyler Heath's 100 Freestyle (56.72), where he finished 3rd.  That swim was almost a full second better than his prelim swim of 57.57, which was a personal best. Julia Cogdill, Grace Sanchez, and Morgan Tankersley also finished with best times in their individual events.  Julia dropped a second in her 200 Breaststroke with a time of 3:05.05.  Grace touched the wall at 1:07.07 in her 100 Freestyle cutting 2 seconds off her previous best time, while Morgan finished the 100 Backstroke in a new best time of 1:20.11.  The meet is off to a fast start, Thursday saw 3 Olympic Trial cuts, 6 new state records, and one national age group record.  Action continues Friday.  If you are interested in watching the swimming you can at www.floridaswimmingnetwork.com.
