GTSA Battles the Elements and Local Teams at NIKE Classic

This past weekend’s NIKE Classic was full of different weather conditions, from high winds Saturday to heavy rains on Sunday, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell just looking at the way GTSA competed.  GTSA amassed 428 points over the two days to earn a 4th place finish.  19 different GTSA swimmers scored points, while 5 different swimmers combined to win 15 events.  Jayson Reddick, Grace Sanchez, and Matthew Dieffenthaller finished in the top 3 in their respective age group’s high point races.  Matthew won all 8 events he swam to earn 72 points out distancing the next swimmer by 21 points.  Althogh the weather played a factor the team still had personal bests over 50% of the time including 100% best times from William Aneiros, Veronica Francis, Arden Friar, Reese Friar, Larry Gomez, Tanner Heath, Lucy Morris, Tatum Morris, Hillary Perfit, Jayson Reddick, and Sarah Whitfield.  Coach Ryan tried to keep count of how many pumpkins were won, but that number became higher than he could count early on Saturday.  The coaching staff thought it was a great meet and was very proud of the effort and racing despite the weather conditions.  GTSA returns to action on October 28 at the SPA Friday Night at the Races!
