From St. Pete to Montreal GTSA Has a Great Start to July

This past weekend 28 GTSA swimmers went to St. Pete for the final long course meet prior to championship season.  Some people looking to attain cuts and others just looking to fine tune a few things before the big meets.

No matter what the goal the meet was very successful.  GTSA scored 414.5 points, which was good enough for 6th place out of 22 teams.  Scoring that many points was a complete team effort, 18 of the 28 swimmers scored points in individual events.  That Included Sarah Whitfield, Gabby Donahue, Morgan Tankersley, and Allie Donahue who managed to finish in the top 3 in their respective age groups.

Best times were plentiful as well, with a team best time percentage of 55%.  That Included 100% personal bests from Christopher DIeffenthaller, and Caroline Donahue.  Overall it was a great way to lead into our championship season.  Our 14&under swimmers will return to action on the 19th at Florida Age Group Championships, while our senior swimmers will have to wait until the 26th to kick of Senior Championships.

While most of the team was in St Pete, Coach Ryan had the pleasure of taking Felipe Manzo to The Canada Cup in Montreal.  Felipe did an excellent job represented GTSA in a meet that had Olympians from more than 6 different countries, including the entire Canadian Olympic Team.  He participated in 3 events going best times in all 3, culminating in making it back to finals in the 50 Freestyle the final night in a blistering time of 23.89.

Great Work GTSA!
