Friday night Ally Donahue finished her 100 Breaststroke, glanced at the clock and saw her time of 1:03.81(Automatic All-American Standard).  Although that is a blistering time she was more concerned about the single number that popped up next to her lane 4, “1”.  She had reached her goal of becoming FHSAA Class 3A State Champion.  Ally along with Maddie Hess(Newsome) became the first individuals from Hillsborough County to win state championships since 2007.  Earlier in the evening Carter Flynn joined Ally and two other swimmers to help Plant to a 2nd place(1:47.07, All-American Consideration) finish in the 200 Medley Relay, just 16 hundredths of a second away from a state championship.  Emma Donahue finished 6th in the 100 Breaststroke, which also he

lped Plant to their 5th place finish amassing 131 points.

The previous night it was Academy of Holy Names chance in the pool.  Margaret Shumake and Julia Cogdill combined with two other girls to kick the night off with a 6th place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.  Margaret added a 13th place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.  All of this helping Holy Names to a 4th place finish in Class 2A.

On Saturday Gregory Campo helped Tampa Prep’s boys to a 8th place finish in the 1A competition.  He converted lifetime best swims in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly into 10th and 14th place finishes respectively.  He also helped on Prep’s top 8 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relays.
