GTSA Fantastic at FLAG's
Over the weekend, the best 14&under swimmers in the state of Florida met in Sarasota to compete at The 2013 Short Course Florida Age Group Championships. GTSA was represented well with fourteen swimmers. Seven of those swimmers competed in individual events over the four day meet. Although the meet did not go exactly to plan with some swimmers dealing with injuries, and illnesses the team managed to achieve some spectacular performances.
GTSA participated in nine different relays over the weekend ranging from 10&under girls, 11-12 boys, and 13-14 girls’ relays. The relays had many swimmers finishing in lifetime best times. Individually Regan Flynn was able to tough out a couple best times on the weekend in the 50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke. Morgan Tankersley competed in six individual events and went best times in all six. She was able to make it to finals in three of those events. Her first was Friday, a 12th place finish in the 400IM with a time of 4:42.39. Sunday she finished the weekend with a bang touching the wall 8th in the 200 backstroke and a very impressive 2nd place finish in the 100 Freestyle. Her time of 52.89 along with her 2nd place finish earned her a spot on the Florida All-Star Team.
Overall it was a great meet for GTSA. The team will return to Sarasota in two weeks for the final short course meet of the season.
