Donahue & Tankersley Representing GTSA Well

Recently two GTSA swimmers represented our club at two very large meets.  Last weekend and into this week Ally Donahue participated in the CARIFTA Games in Jamaica, representing Trinidad & Tobago. While, this weekend Morgan Tankersley was in Ft. Pierce, Florida as a member of Florida Swimming's All-Star Team in a dual meet against the Florida Gold Coast All-Stars.

The CARIFTA Games, where Ally competed, is the fastest age group meet in the Caribbean Islands.  She finished the four-day meet with three silver medals, and one gold.  The three silvers came in the 200 Breaststroke (2:43.05), 50 Breaststroke (33.50), and the 400 Medley Relay (She was also a member of T&T's 200 & 400 Free Relays).  Her Gold Medal in the 100 Breaststroke came in dominating fashion, clocking a time of 1:12.33.  That time was over a second and a half faster than her nearest competitor, while also setting a new CARIFTA record.

The meet in Ft. Pierce faces off the best swimmers from Florida Swimming (Our LSC) against Florida Gold Coast's best.  Due to her performance at FLAG's, Morgan Tankersley earned a spot on the team.  She did not disappoint.  Over the two day, three-session meet, Morgan participated in six individual events and two relays.  In her six individual events, Morgan finished no worse than 4th (2nd-2, 3rd-2, 4th-2).  In her 50 free, she touched the wall in 24.38, earning her first NCSA Junior National time standard. She joins Ally Donahue and Greg Campo as GTSA members with those cuts.  Morgan might have saved her best performance for last.  While anchoring the 200 Free relay, she split 23.8, the fastest split in the meet, to catch and pass the FGC swimmer and win the relay!

When you see these to girls be sure to congratulate them.  Thank you both for representing our club so well, and keep up the great work!
