GTSA Finishes 8th at Senior Championships

This weekend 51 different teams sent their best senior swimmers to Indian River State College to compete in Florida's Senior Championships. After the three and a half day meet GTSA finished with 503 points, and an 8th place finish! The team sent 13 swimmers to the championship meet including; Khalid Aldaboos, Julia Cogdill, Cameron Davidson, Mary Deedrick, Carter Flynn, Emily Grams, Tyler Heath, Alex Hipolito, Felipe Manzo, Briana Murphy, Jeremy Parker, Erin Plachy, and Margret Shumake. All 13 swimmers qualified for finals in at least one of their individual events led by Jeremy Parker who did it in all 6 of his events.

Relays played a huge roll in the team earning enough points to finish in 8th place. GTSA had 4 different relays finish in the top 3 on the weekend. The women 200 Medley Relay (Flynn, Shumake, Grams, Plachy) finished 3rd, while the group of Aldaboos, Heath, Manzo, and Parker finished 2nd in the 400 Medley Relay, and were champions in the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relays!

This was a great way to end GTSA's long course season. Only Ally Donahue has a long course meet left this season, as she heads to Junior Nationals next week. Finishing in the top 10 at a Florida Championship Meet is an amazing accomplishment for our team! We are so proud of the way all of our senior swimmers did this weekend and hope that our younger swimmers can look at what they have accomplished and will strive to do the same for themselves!
