GTSA Amazing at Al Soltis Invitational
This past weekend 15 teams from 4 different states met in Clearwater, FL for the Al Soltis Invitational. After the three day prelim and final meet, that was contested Saturday-Monday due to the holida, GTSA finished with 240 points. That was good enough for a third place finish, excluding the host team. Exactly half of GTSA swimmers, 17 of 34, scored points in individual events for GTSA. Even more competed on point scoring relays. Jeffrey Smith accumulated 18 points, which was good for 3rd place in the 8&under boys high point race. Gabby Donahue Finished the weekend with 62 points, which earned her 1st place in the 11-12 girls high point!
Not only was GTSA earning an abundance of points, but they were also achieving a large amount of best times. The team went approximately 67% best times in the morning sessions, and almost exclusively best times in the unorthodox long course final sessions. The team handled the different style of meet very well. They got up and raced, regardless of not having any long course training. The next meet for a majority of our senior swimmers will be Senior Championships, while our other swimmers will compete at the Southwest Stars Invite February 21-23.
