GTSA Swimmers Help Florida All-Star Team Beat Gold Coast

This past weekend was the annual dual meet between Florida Swimming and Florida Gold Coast’s All-Star Teams.  The two day, three session meet, which is held at Indian River State College, faces off the best that the two LSC’s have to offer.  When the swimming came to an end on Sunday afternoon Florida Swimming was able to earn a hard fought victory by the score of 656.5-614.5.  That victory helps keep Florida Swimming undefeated in the history of this dual meet!

Three GTSA swimmers, as well as Coach Ryan, represented Florida Swimming on the All-Star Team; including Gabby Donahue, Morgan Tankersley, and Belle Whitfield.  Each girl participated in individual events and had the honor of swimming on two relays for Team Florida.  Belle Whitfield went a personal best time every time she hit the pool, including besting many times she just achieved a few weeks back at FLAG’s.  Gabby Donahue also had multiple best times and finished top 3 in 2 events.  She finished the 100IM in a time of 1:03.70, which was good for 3rd place.  She also touched the wall in a time of 28.24 in the 50 Backstroke to win the event by over 1 second.  Morgan Tankersley finished 1st or 2nd in 5 of the 6 individual events in which she participated.  Morgan finished first in the 100 Backstroke (58.04), the 200 Backstroke (2:04.42), and the 1,650 Freestyle (17:13) winning that event by over 25 seconds.  Morgan also led off the winning 200 Freestyle relay in a time of 23.74, which was the fastest 50 time of any swimmer on the weekend.

It was an overall fantastic weekend for Florida Swimming and the three swimmers that represented GTSA.  It was a culmination of a great short course season for GTSA.  Please congratulate these swimmers when you see them, and thank them for representing your club so well.  GTSA’s next meet will be April 18-19.  This will be the team’s first long course meet of the season!
