GTSA Season Opener Meet Recap – September 20
The GTSA Season Opener marked a powerful start to our short course season. With 89 swimmers participating across 386 events, the meet showcased both emerging talent and seasoned growth. Over 72% of swims resulted in time improvements, with an average drop of 7.14 seconds—an impressive early-season benchmark. We’re excited to see what the rest of the season holds for our GTSA swimmers!
Notably, 42 athletes posted official times in events they had never swum before, turning NTs into brand-new personal records. Highlights included Emmy Rubis dropping 42.53 seconds in the 100 IM and Nolan Simmons cutting 36.23 seconds in the same race. These dramatic improvements, especially among our younger swimmers, showcase the strong preparation and technical growth across the team.
Across all age groups, swimmers showed determination and steady progress. The meet highlighted not only fast times, but also first races, personal breakthroughs, and the excitement of competition. From the youngest swimmers to the oldest, GTSA athletes set a strong foundation for a season of growth and team spirit.
FLAG CHAMP CUT ALERT -
COLTON MILLER qualified for 10 and Under Boys FLAGS (Florida Age Group Championships) in the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 35.18. Congratulations Colton!
