WORLD AQUATICS

World Aquatics, formerly known as FINA (the "Fédération Internationale de Natation" ) is the international governing body and advocate for the sport of swimming. World Aquatics is the umbrella under which USA Swimming falls.

USA Swimming

USA Swimming (USAS) is the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States. It is a 400,000-member service organization that promotes the culture of swimming by creating opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds.

Responsibilities of USA Swimming are to:

  • Establish all competition rules and structure
  • Register and insure athletes, coaches, officials and organizations
  • Provide training and certification for coaches, officials and administrators

Georgia Swimming – Local Swimming Committee (LSC)

Local Swimming Committees (LSC), are the 59 local governing bodies, responsible for organizing, supporting and governing USA Swimming’s 2,800-plus swim clubs in their individual regions. Georgia Swimming’s region covers the State of Georgia, as well as Chambers and Russell counties in the State of Alabama.

The goal of Team Georgia is to promote a safe and inclusive environment for our swimmers participating in regional competitions and camps. Team Georgia values opportunity, growth, and recognition in the sport of swimming at the regional level, and prides itself in having members who are respectful, hard-working, and encouraging.

Georgia Swimming Responsibilities:

  • Governs and conducts State Championships
  • Establishes meet schedules
  • Implements USA Swimming programs
