Why swim as an adult?

Swimming has many benefits for adults, including:
  • Cardiovascular health: Swimming is an aerobic exercise that improves cardiovascular health by increasing your heart rate and strengthening your heart muscles. It can also reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and strokes. 
  • Weight loss: Swimming can help you lose weight and fat in various areas of your body, including your belly. A 30-minute swim can burn over 200 calories. 
  • Muscle strength: Swimming is a total body workout that tones muscles and builds strength. 
  • Flexibility and coordination: Swimming can improve your flexibility and coordination. 
  • Stress reduction: Swimming can be a calming activity that reduces stress and anxiety. 
  • Low impact: Swimming is a low impact workout that's suitable for people of all fitness levels. 
To see results, you should try to swim consistently.  Beginners can start by swimming 2–3 times a week, while intermediate swimmers can increase to 3–5 times a week.  Advanced swimmers may swim up to 7 times a week

Team DASH offers adult lap swimming opportunities through their U.S. Master's swim program. Don't worry, you do not need to be a "master" swimmer to join. 
All swim levels are welcome 
Daily training workouts are provided by a certified USA Swimming Coach or you may follow your swim program. Equipment such as kickboards and pull buoys is available to use.  
Masters members are EXPECTED to share lanes and circle swim, if necessary.
Master-level competition meets are also available if desired. 
To join, you will need to register for:
DASH Master's Swim (DASH seasonal membership, which requires registration each season)
and
US Master Swimming (USA Master Swim provides insurance coverage for the use of the pool; membership is valid until the end of the calendar year).

DASH offers learn-to-swim classes for adults 18 or over with basic swimming skills and lessons for the more advanced level swimmers who would like to improve their techniques.

You must have a US Master's Swimming membership, which is different than a DASH Master's membership.

US Master's Swimming is a national program that covers your insurance to use the pool - click here for the US Master's Swimming website to register.
