Youth Program Overview

We value, teach, and role model the principles of hard work, discipline, personal responsibility, leadership, commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship, and service to others as the path to personal and competitive success.

Our Training Programs are designed to provide a systematic progression of skills development and personal growth, as we support our athletes in setting goals and achieving dreams. The coaching staff recognizes that every athlete has specific individual needs and that exact group placement will be an on-going process.

Focus: Continuing proficiency and endurance in strokes beyond swim lessons; introduction to starts and turns

Ages: All ages 6 yr old & up

Key Entrance Skills: #1. Able to touch bottom of pool at wall with shoulders above water level (36") #2. Able to perform front float & back float without assistance for at least 5 seconds

Weekly attendance is encouraged

Competitive Development 1

Introduction to competitive strokes, starts, turns, training & personal leadership

Ages: 6+

Key Entrance Skill: 15 yards Freestyle or Backstroke

Attendance: Flexible * 2 days per week is encouraged

Competitive Development 2

D2

Development of competitive skills & personal leadership

Ages: 6+

Key Entrance Skills: 25 yards Freestyle * 25 yards Backstroke * 25 yards Flutter Kick

Attendance: 2 days per week is encouraged

Competitive Development 3

D3

Development of competitive skills & personal leadership * Intro to competition at swim meets

Ages: 6+

Key Entrance Skills: 50 yards Freestyle * 50 yards Backstroke * 50 yards Flutter Kick

Attendance: 3 days per week is encouraged

Age Group 1

AG1

Improvement of Technique, Training Principles, Goal Setting * Intro to Team Leadership

Ages 8 – 10 (est)

Skills Standard: Legal competitive strokes, starts, & turns

Attendance: Minimum 3 days per week is encouraged

Age Group 2

AG2

Refinement of Technique, Training Principles, Goal Setting & Team Leadership

Ages 10 – 12 (est)

Skills Standard: Legal 100 of each stroke / 200 IM / Distance Training / Goals include State Times

Attendance: 4-5 days per week is recommended

Dryland & Stretching is offered prior to practices and is encouraged.

Age Group 3

AG3

Proficiency in Technique, Training Principles, Goal Setting & Team Leadership

Ages 12 – 14 (est)

Skills Standards: 200 of Stroke / 400 IM / 500 Free or greater / Goals include State & Regional Times

Attendance: 4-5 days per week is recommended

Dryland & Stretching is offered prior to practices and is encouraged.

High School Development

HSD

Designed for high school swimmers to improve competitive & leadership skills. Focus is stroke technique, conditioning & personal leadership; swim meets are optional but encouraged.

Key Entrance Skills: Member of High School Swim Team

Dryland & Stretching is offered with practices and is encouraged.

Attendance: 3 days per week is encouraged

Senior

SR

Focus: Stroke Technique & Proficiency * Training Principles * Goal Setting * Community Leadership

Ages: 9th Grade & up

Skills Standard: Legal competitive strokes, starts, & turns

Goals include qualifying times for regional championship meets and higher

Attendance: 4-5 days per week is encouraged

Dryland & Stretching is offered prior to practices and is strongly

encouraged.
