Short Course Season (SCY):

  • 🏟️ Meets held in 25-yard pools

  • 🏫 Training exclusively in 25-yard indoor pools

Long Course Season (LCM):

  • 🏟️ Meets held in 50-meter pools (often outdoors)

  • 🏫 Training in indoor 25-yard pools and IU's outdoor 50-meter facility

  • New swimmers are evaluated by ISC coaching staff and placed based on age and ability.

  • Group placement is at the discretion of the coaching staff, who consider criteria, readiness, space, and performance.

🟒 FUN-damental

For our newest swimmers just beginning their journey.
The FUN-damental group is the perfect introduction to club swimming. Young swimmers build water confidence while learning Freestyle and Backstroke, flip turns, and proper starts. The emphasis is on kick-driven propulsion, body awareness, and enjoying the process of becoming part of a team. FUN practices are designed to be engaging, energetic, and developmentally appropriate.

  • Focus on developing body balance, coordination, and kick-driven strokes

  • Intro to Freestyle, Backstroke, front dives, flip turns, and backstroke starts

  • On-deck dryland emphasizes mobility, core strength, and coordination

Where technique meets teamwork.
Swimmers in the White group refine technique across all four strokes, work on stroke-specific turns, and start building endurance for longer events. They also learn how to train in a lane with others, practice lane etiquette, and develop a positive, team-focused attitude. This is where technical foundation and social development go hand-in-hand.

  • Refine block and backstroke starts, flip turns, and streamline techniques

  • Emphasis on team behavior, lane sharing, and coachability

The bridge between development and performance.
The Red group is for motivated swimmers aiming to qualify for Divisionals and Age Group State. This group introduces more structured training, heart rate tracking, and the use of training tools. Dryland is encouraged to build strength, stability, and explosive movement. Swimmers begin developing race plans and understand how consistent effort translates to performance.

  • Focused training on technique, distance, and heart rate-based sets

  • Kick-heavy training blocks and advanced drill integration

  • Begins development of racing habits and mental toughness

  • Legal in all 4 strokes

  • Completed 200 Free and 200 IM, or 10&U Age Group State cut

For athletes ready to push further.
Junior group swimmers are transitioning into higher-volume training while balancing technique with conditioning. Athletes in this group may be preparing for Middle School swimming or working toward Age Group State qualification. They learn how to use recovery strategies, track heart rate, and refine race execution skillsβ€”all while continuing to build love for the sport.

  • Emphasizes aerobic development, efficient training habits, and technical refinement

  • Dryland includes core strength, agility, and injury prevention

  • Great for swimmers who want to excel in Middle School swimming or start climbing the championship ladder

  • 11 years old or entering 7th grade

🟣 Junior Elite

Where performance becomes purposeful.
Junior Elite is for athletes training at a high level with goals of Age Group State, Zones, and Speedo Sectionals. These swimmers are expected to compete regularly, train with intensity, and lead by example. Training is tailored toward developing power, endurance, and race intelligence. Recovery, nutrition, and time management become more critical at this stage.

  • Focus on maximizing stroke efficiency, training smart, and preparing for elite-level meets

  • Strong emphasis on mental preparation and individual accountability

  • One 13-year-old Age Group State cut and willingness to swim all events

🟠 Senior

Built for high school athletes with serious goals.
The Senior group is tailored for swimmers competing in high school or aiming to qualify for championship meets like Speedo Sectionals. Athletes work on refining race strategy, pacing, and training endurance. Practices balance aerobic threshold work with technical refinement. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 4+ meets and commit to consistent training habits.

  • Integrates performance-level training and high school race prep

  • Focus on aerobic capacity, kick sets, and technical refinement

  • Encourages consistency, responsibility, and preparation for Senior Elite

  • Must be entering 9th grade (Freshman year of high school)

⚫ Senior Elite

Elite-level training for swimmers with national aspirations.
Senior Elite is the highest-level training group at ISC, designed for athletes with Speedo Sectionals, Futures, NCSAs, or national meet goals. These swimmers are team leaders, modeling discipline, commitment, and competitive excellence. Training is rigorous and holisticβ€”swimmers focus on every detail, from stroke mechanics to sleep, nutrition, and mental readiness.

  • Highest training intensity and frequency in the program

  • Participation in all practices, dryland, and qualifying meets is expected

  • Race analysis, advanced taper strategies, and elite-level preparation are standard

  • At least one Speedo Sectionals cut

Senior and Junior Prep
βœ” Description:
  • The prep groups are focused for swimmers that just want to train in between other sports or are swimming for part-time conditioning without a focus on competition.
  • Senior prep will practice up to 4 times per week
  • Junior prep will practice up to 3 times per week.
