Indiana Swim Club is a USA Swimming-affiliated team serving youth athletes of all ages and levels in Bloomington, Indiana. Our mission is to foster a positive, competitive, and fun environment that helps swimmers grow as athletes and as people.

We’re looking for a creative, motivated student who wants real-world experience managing social media and community marketing efforts for a local nonprofit sports organization.


Position Overview

This internship is ideal for students in marketing, PR, communications, media, or sports management who want to build their portfolio and gain hands-on experience. Hours are flexible, and most work can be done remotely with occasional on-site visits at practices or meets.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow ISC’s social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok; optional YouTube)
  • Develop content calendars and schedule posts (3–5 per week)
  • Create and edit short-form videos and graphics (using Canva or similar tools)
  • Highlight swimmer achievements, team events, and community partnerships
  • Assist with basic marketing materials (flyers, posters, event promos, newsletters)
  • Track engagement and suggest creative ways to boost awareness and recruiting

Qualifications

  • Current IU student (undergrad or grad) studying marketing, media, PR, sports management, or related fields
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok (experience with Canva or video editing is a plus)
  • Creative mindset and strong communication skills
  • Self-starter; able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Interest in youth sports or swimming is helpful but not required

Compensation

This is an unpaid internship designed for portfolio and career development. Internship/course credit may be arranged through IU.

  • Assistant Group Coach (Part-Time, Hourly)

🧢 Assistant Group Coach – Indiana Swim Club

Position Summary

The Assistant Group Coach works closely with the Head Coach and other staff to deliver high-quality training sessions, consistent technical instruction, and a positive team culture. This part-time, hourly role involves on-deck coaching with assigned training groups, assisting at swim meets, and supporting team-wide goals. The ideal candidate brings energy, professionalism, and a passion for developing swimmers at all levels.

This coach must actively engage with athletes on a daily basis to provide encouragement, feedback, and technical support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coach assigned training group(s) as directed by the Head Coach, following the club’s seasonal plans

  • Actively engage with athletes daily to build rapport and offer feedback

  • Provide technical instruction with a focus on fundamentals, skill development, and stroke efficiency

  • Support swimmer progression and group transitions

  • Help athletes set and achieve personal goals while fostering teamwork and confidence

  • Assist with meet preparation, attend assigned meets, and provide deck support

  • Communicate professionally with athletes, families, and staff in alignment with ISC and Safe Sport expectations

  • Maintain a consistent, punctual presence at all assigned practices

  • Attend staff meetings, coach clinics, and team events as needed


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Current USA Swimming coach membership in good standing, including:

    • Background check

    • Athlete Protection Training

    • CPR/AED and First Aid

    • Safety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC)

  • Previous coaching or competitive swimming experience

  • Ability to create a supportive, inclusive team environment

  • Strong communication and youth development skills

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USA Swimming clubs, high school, or collegiate programs

  • Knowledge of stroke technique, skill progression, and age-group coaching methods

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time hourly position; 5–20 hours per week based on group assignment and meet schedule

  • Evening and weekend availability required

  • Compensation commensurate with experience and credentials
