How To Join the CBR Barracudas Swim Team
The CBR Barracudas Swim Team practices out of three YMCA locations across the Bucks County Region, the Doylestown YMCA, Quakertown YMCA and Fairless Hils YMCA.
Each location offers five training levels broken up by both age and ability, Senior, Pre-Senior, Age Group 2, Age Group 1 & Academy. In order to ensure the correct practice group placement for a new swimmer coaches ask that everyone come in for an evaulation. Evaluations can be set up by appointment, or you can check the website for evaluation weeks during the Month of July and March. An evaluation is coach led and consists of a technique evaluation for all of the four strokes and any skills necessary based on the age of the participant. The coach may ask the athlete to do more based on what they observe during the evaluation. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 meters of the 4 competitive strokes and more depending on age and level.
After an evaluation the Site Director will make a recommendation for what the next step is for the athlete. This may include placement on the team or a recommendation of lessons through the YMCA Of Bucks & Hunterdon County lesson program. Coaches look at both age and ability for each swimmer when placing them in a level and it should be trusted that they are making a recommendation which is best for the athlete.
You can view practice times by level on the website to determine whether practice times work for you and your athlete. Most communication is done through the website and email to reach all of our members. You should expect emails with important reminders every 1 to 2 weeks depending on the time of year.
