Coach's Notes 4.14.2024

Sharon Moran

With the first week of swimming behind us, we can all rest knowing that everyone is where they need to be. As always, we do have several things coming up that you should keep in mind.

  • Augustana meet is closed, and the entries have been sent. No changes at this point.
  • The Hurricanes meet is closed. I asked for 85 athlete spots and were given the 51. If given an opportunity, I will add additional athletes who are on the wait list. Before we wer etold that we had 51 spots we had over 60 athletes signed up. AS per the meet despritpion priority will be given to the upper level swimmers.
  • TUNA meet. This meet closes today so that we can get our entries approved and sent. Once this is closed, we are going to stay closed. Doing a last-minute entry everyday really takes a toll on those who are trying to recon insurance, set up timelines and setting the program. If you are planning on entering this meet, PLEASE do so today.
  • Sea Devil This meet is ready for people to sign up. This is a one day meet. 11 and older swmmers are in the morning and the 12 and older are in the afternoon.
  • WOLF meet. This meet is a times standards meet. This is a popular meet and will reach capacity fast. Because of this, I am going to send our entries on the entry start date to make sure that we have all our qualified entries in.
  • WAVE has two meets this season. Both those event files are loaded and ready to have people enter the meets. For the May Wave meet, priority will be given to the Novice, intermediate  and yournger swimmers.
  • Please watch the calendar. This is the time of year where we have end-of-year concerts, activities, spring dances, Saturday swim meets and conferences. This means that training teams might be on a different day or may have a time shift.
  • SR 1 and Silver. The first week in the pool was a bit of a dance during the transition period. I was able to get the pool earlier on most of the days so there is not such big of an overlap. I was told that the district has scheduled a program until 5:30 on Tuesdays. This should only last for 4 possibly 5 Tuesdays or until the SR 1 swimmers are moved outside.
  • High School Swimmers…the order form for the team caps can be found in the one of the news feeds. Please order your caps asap. We will ask that should you decide to wear your HS caps that you turn them inside out. We are the TUNAs.
  • Thursday April 18th I will have wrist surgery. I typically respond to emails immediately.  Please be patient this next week. I will NOT be able to  answer my emails for a few days. Thank you to Coach Jess and Coach Becky for running practices on Thursday and Friday.
