Entries

Individual events

If a swimmer is qualified in 1 event, the Coaches will select a bonus event for them to be entered. Regardless of number of events qualified, a swimmer can enter a maximum amount of 5 individual events.

Relays

Relays are selected based on the fastest 4 swimmers in each age group. Relay entries do not count toward the individual event limit.

Team dinners

We will have 2 team dinners for States-qualified swimmers. The first will be a pre-States meal at the Rye Y on Wednesday, March 13 where we will distribute team apparel and get excited for the Meet. The second will be a dinner on Saturday, March 16 at one of the hotels. Class DE swimmers will eat first and then Class ABC swimmers will eat after the Saturday Finals Session has concluded. We will cater the food and will need parent volunteers.

Details to be confirmed.

FAQ

Do I need to stay over at a hotel?

Staying over is recommended, but absolutely not required. For older kids (Class ABC) who have a 6:30AM warmup, it is recommended to sleep at a hotel so that you don't have to wake up super early and drive down. Since we are in Long Island this year, Class DE swimmers are mid-day so there is not a need to sleep over as long as you can make it to the facility 15 minutes early for warmup.

How are bonus events chosen?

Bonus events are selected based on a swimmer's time and progress in certain strokes and distances. Events are selected by Head Coach Kate and the other Coaches.

How does my swimmer get into the pool?

Swimmers enter through locker rooms and spectators must go to the viewing gallery upstairs. Spectators are forbidden from the pool deck, and swimmers in wet bathing suits cannot go upstairs to the viewing gallery. If your swimmer forgets something on deck, you must meet them in the lobby to deliver it to them. If your swimmer does not have a phone you can contact a Coach.

What should my swimmer have on deck?

Swimmers should bring 2 caps, 2 pairs of goggles, and 2 towels: one for drying off with, and one to wrap around themselves while sitting on the bleachers. Nassau County Aquatic Center tends to be colder than other pool decks due to the fact that there are sliding glass doors on one side of the pool. A sweatshirt and towelpants/sweatpants are recommended for all sessions.

My swimmer has not qualified for States yet / has not qualified in a specific event yet. When do they have to qualify by?

Swimmers must qualify for States on/before the deadline of February 27, 2024 in a dual meet, grand prix, invitational, or varsity meet. Times recorded at Leagues (March 3, 2024) or at a practice cannot qualify a swimmer for States.
