YELLOW (Ages 9-13)

Practice Attendance Requirement: up to 3 practices per week

Practice Length: 45 minutes

Equipment Necessary: kickboards (which are provided at practice), fins and snorkel 

Competition Expectation: participation in a minimum of 2 meets per season

Group Description: Swimmers in the yellow group know how to do freestyle, and backstroke and have a general understanding of breaststroke and butterfly. Refinement and continued development of these skills are the main objectives of the yellow group. Other activities and sports are encouraged. The basic points of emphasis are having fun, learning proper stroke techniques, lane etiquette, and continue to expand the swimmers' competitive experience. Swimmers will build meet independence and accountability. 

Swimmers in the Yellow Group must be able to complete a 200 freestyle with a snorkel, with flipturns, without stopping before being considered to advance to the next group.

There are many other options for equipment, your swimmer may prefer another brand, these are merely suggestions from the Flyer Coaching Staff. These group descriptions are for basic guidelines and are not intended as hard-line requirements. The Head Coach, in conjunction with the assistant coaches, has the final say in all instances. In all instances, the coaches will do what is best for the swimmer and the team as a whole.
