Orange (Ages 9-14)

Practice Attendance Requirement: minimum of 2 practices per week, maximum of 4 practices per week

Practice Length: 75 minutes

Equipment Necessary: fins, snorkel, pull buoy, paddles, kick board, water bottle

Competition Expectation: participate in a minimum of 4 meets for short course season and must swim at the state meet. Long-course swimmers must participate in 3 meets and the state meet.

Group Description: This is a competitive group that teaches the swimmers intervals, has challenging workouts, and works to improve the technique of all four competitive strokes, starts, turns, finishes, and racing strategies. The orange group swimmers will be held accountable for their swimming and should be willing to commit to 4 practices a week. We will emphasize stroke technique, teamwork, basic training etiquette, and excellent behavior.

Swimmers in the orange group will be required to compete in a variety of events at meets from the 200 of all the strokes to the 400 IM, 400/500 freestyle, and the 800/1000 freestyle. Coaches will consider the swimmer's age when choosing what events the swimmer will swim at meets.

Orange swimmers need to have multiple State Qualifying times in their respective age groups.

Swimmers who have completed one (or more) high school seasons are not automatically placed in this group. Times achieved during the high school season will be considered but are not what group placement in the Orange Group are based on.

Team Accountability Requirement: Swimmers must wear West Fargo Flyers gear at least one day a week at school (HS gear does not count). The swimmer must complete the goal-setting document each season.
