Platinum (Ages 13-18) 

Practice Attendance Requirement: minimum of 5 practices per week, maximum of 7 practices per week

Practice Length: 120 minutes

Equipment Necessary: fins, snorkel, pull buoy, paddles, kick board,  water bottle

Competition Expectation: participation in the majority of home Flyer meets each season, 3 away meets each season and must swim at the state meet each season.

Group Description: While a minimum of five practices a week is required, seven practices per week is recommended. Platinum swimmers should be serious about the sport of swimming with the goal of achieving times for higher caliber meets. Swimmers in this group have proven a commitment and ability to train at a higher level. They will focus on stroke refinement and aerobic endurance.  

Swimmers in the platinum group will be required to compete in all events in their age group, potentially multiple times throughout the season.

Platinum swimmers need to have State Qualifying times in their respective age groups, one Sectional cut or within a reasonable range (determined by Flyer coaching staff) of a minimum of a Sectional cut.

Team Accountability Requirement: Swimmers must wear West Fargo Flyers gear at least one day a week at school (HS gear does not count). Swimmers must attend one session of Future Flyers to help per season and must attend 2 afternoon Purple/Yellow sessions to assist coaches and build relationships with younger swimmers. The swimmer must complete athlete education selected by the coaching staff and the goal-setting document each season. Platinum swimmers must work with the Green group and Flyer coaching staff to come up with and complete a community service project each season.

These group descriptions are for basic guidelines and are not intended as hard-line requirements. The Head Coach, in conjunction with the assistant coaches, has the final say in all instances. In all instances, the coaches will do what is best for the swimmer and the team as a whole.
