Lobo Aquatic Masters Club

To be classified as a Masters swimmer, you must be over the age of 18. That's it! So, if you are over 18 and you swim, you are a Masters swimmer.

At Lobo Aquatic Club, we know that exercising with a group of like-minded adults is vastly more fulfilling than swimming alone. But if you're new to swimming, your preconceived notions about those who have been at it a while may make you feel inadequate and intimidated. And, your status as a Masters swimmer—even though you are brand new to the sport—may feel like a misnomer. Lobo chooses to subcategorize our swimmers to refine the vastly broad definition of what a Masters swimmer is and ease some discomfort adults new to the sport may feel.

  1. Fitness Swimmers: Adults who love to swim on a regular basis and are interested in the health benefits swimming provides.
  2. Triathletes: Competitive triathletes interested in improving their distance swimming abilities with a primary focus on freestyle.
  3. Competition/Open Water: Competitive swimmers that compete nationally and internationally at Masters Competitions and Open Water (lake/ocean) competitions.

Unlike other Masters clubs in town, we have two optional workouts daily:

UNM Olympic Pool - Armond H Seidler Natatorium

200 Cornell Dr SE
Albuquerque, NM 87106

We are located in the Olympic pool, which is on the east end of the UNM campus next to Johnson field, off of Redondo drive. Use the west gate to enter directly into the natatorium; don't try to enter through Johnson Center.

There are many pay stations west of the natatorium but they are not typically enforced until 7am M-F. Barring days where UNM has special events, parking on Saturdays seems to be free, though violaions are $50 more info at UNM's website and UNM-PATS.

The Natatorium has showers and locker rooms available for Lobo Masters swimmers to use.
