Hey, TVA Families! Welcome to the 2011 Fall/Winter season! You know what that means: lots of new swimmers, new families, fun meets, and fast swimming! We wrapped up the Summer long course season with some pretty strong showings at the Junior Olympics, Far Westerns, and our first swimmer making it to Junior Nationals (good luck at UC Santa Barbara, Chris Dotson!) and now it’s time to step it up even more. Here’s a little bit of what’s happening this season: 1. Fall swimmers! This year, tons of new families and...
Hey, Team! This past weekend was what we generally accept to be the longest weekend of the year: summer Far Westerns. It’s a five-day meet, offering every event, and swimmers can compete in up to nine events. We make the drive to the Concord Terrapins’ pool multiples times a day, then bake in the sun (or, on certain unpleasant Sundays, huddle under all our dry towels to stay warm) for hours, waiting around to swim for around a minute. We get on the blocks, the buzzer sounds, and for a...
2011 Long Course Junior Olympics Four long days of trials and finals and over 100 swims later, Tri Valley Aquatics can say that the Junior Olympics was a success! Including relay lead-off splits, our swimmers put up 47 best times – which means a whole lot of new team records! Congratulations to all of our swimmers, but especially those who had a “perfect” meet – all best times: Connor Daly, Stephanie Doi, Chris Fernainy, Tyler Lu, Cole Reznick, Jordan Reznick, and Claire Suen. It takes a lot of hard work...
In the All-Star Zone Any swimmer can show up to a meet and swim a few events. A good swimmer comes and swims a few races. An excellent swimmer gets to the meet and knows that they’re about to put one hundred percent into every lap they’re supposed to swim that day. It’s one thing to be a swimmer, another to be a good swimmer, and a completely different thing to be an excellent swimmer – an all-star. This weekend,Chris Jhong (10) and Andrew Wang (8) represented not only Tri...
TVA’s Chris J. posted a new record at Zone 2 All-Star Meet for 10 &UN in 50 Breastroke. Chris’s new Zone 2 record is currently the fastest swim in Pacific Swimming. Congratulation.
Shooting for the Stars! Corny and cliché? Yes, very. But there’s nothing wrong with that; this weekend, our swimmers had some pretty out-of-this-world swims. Our Team has shown yet another amazing team effort. Tri Valley Aquatics achieved a “High Point Team Award – First Place” winning the group 2 team division at Zone 2 short course 2011Winter Championship (Championship was divided into two groups. Large teams and the rest) This weekend was proof of how important a team is, even in a more individual sport like swimming. While our swimmers...
From the very first sound of the buzzer that a six-year-old hears to start his first 25-yard freestyle race to the Olympic finish that comes down to the hundredths of a second, swimming is one sport that knows how to embrace the athlete of any level. After any achievement, there’s always another goal to work towards – and that’s the beautiful thing about the sport. This year, Tri Valley Aquatics took 13 swimmers to the Cal Invitational swim meet, hosted by none other than the UC Berkeley itself. Hannah Bergh,...
