Aspen Monkhouse qualified for the YMCA Nationals Swimming Championships at the Daffodil Classic, Saturday, which was held at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. She won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.79, lowering her own team record for the third consecutive meet. Her time also makes Monkhouse the second swimmer to qualify for Y Nationals in an individual event since the team reformed less than three years ago. The Bremerton YMCA swim team earned its biggest honor in the last three years as it won the team Division II title at the YMCA Regional Swim Meet in Boise, Idaho, last weekend. Bremerton, which sent five swimmers three years ago, sent 31 participants and finished fourth regardless of category. Sam Lingenbrink won six events, broke two Bremerton Y records in the 50-yard backstroke in 27.60 seconds, and the 1,000 freestyle in 11 minutes, 16.75 seconds. Bremerton YMCA Swim Team’s Sam Lingenbrink remained undefeated in YMCA competitions this year thanks to a strong effort at the Washington State YMCA Championships last weekend at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way. The club, which qualified swimmers into 12 of 14 event finals, finished second in the boys’ team title while the girls were third. Lingenbrink won the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 20.02 seconds, 200 free (1:58.47) and 100 backstroke (59.21 seconds). She also broke the state YMCA meet record in the 200 free and backstroke....

There were five teams competing at the meet, the first of the season for Bremerton. Locals headed to Western Zone Championships Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 Samantha Lingenbrink of the Bremerton YMCA will swim at the Western Zone Senior Championships in Clovis, Calif. Bremerton Y finishes national meet The Bremerton YMCA’s 200-yard freestyle team of Alicia Carlin, Samantha Carlin, Leah Avery and Sarah Avery finished 67th at the YMCA National Short Course championships Friday in Greensboro, N.C. Lingenbrink debuts at YMCA Nationals Samantha Lingenbrink made her debut at the YMCA Short Course National championships with a solid time on Wednesday. The Bremerton YMCA swim team member finished fifth in her preliminary heat in the 100-yard backstroke at the Greensboro (N.C.) Aquatic Center. She touched the wall in 58.70, a bit off her seeding time of 58.63. The Bremerton YMCA swim team qualified its 200-yard girls freestyle relay team to the upcoming YMCA Nationals in April, and set a team record at the Y Regionals over the weekend at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
