What Are Invitational Meets?

In the world of recreational swimming, the term invitational is a bit of a misnomer. These are meets to which our team has been invited. In almost all of our Invitational meets, anybody can swim. Individuals do not need to be INVITED! In fact we encourage participation in these meets. Invitational meets involve swimmers from multiple teams from a given area or region. They are excellent opportunities for young swimmers to swim against members of teams we don’t swim against in dual meets. Often our swimmers record their very best times in this type of atmosphere.

Dana Hills Pentathlon

This meet demands every swimmer swim all 5 strokes (Free, Breast, Fly, Back and IM) on the same day. 6&U do 50yd Free instead of IM. Swimmers are assigned to the same heat/same lane for each event. Swimmers are seeded in Red and Blue flights based on entry times. Scoring combines performance in all 5 events. Each swimmer swims only one day of the 2-day meet.

Woodlands Invitational

This meet is a warm-up for City Meet. Only the best swimmers from each team participate. The coaches select them. Only 2 swimmers from each team may enter each event.

City Meet

DON’T MISS THIS ONE! This is the culmination of the season. There is a whole week’s worth of activities building up to this one. It is for the Concord Cup of recreational swimming, as well as a great opportunity to take the measure of all the Concord swim teams one last time. We don’t swim all the Concord teams during the season, but all will be there for this meet. Everybody sees schoolmates and family friends who live in different areas of Concord at City Meet. It is a 3-day meet, beginning Friday evening.

The Crossings Challenge Invitational

The Walnut Country Swim Team is proud to host its invitational meet this year! This invitational is unique! It will be a fun, competitive, and affordable invitational for "B" level recreational swimmers. We will award both effort and results with high quality medals for each participant. We look forward to recognizing swimmers who may not always see their efforts rewarded at large meets. Since many "B" swimmers may not often have the opportunity to swim in a relay, we have also included both mixed and conventional relays. Trophies will be awarded to the first and second place teams. The first placed team is awarded a traveling trophy, which it defends the next year.

Meet Eligibility

All swimmers must swim in their own age group for individual events, as determined by their age on June 15th. In an effort to fill out a relay team, a swimmer may swim up one age group. A swimmer may not swim up an age group for individual events.

This meet is for "B swimmers." No swimmer with a recorded time, as of July 1st, equal to or faster than a Walnut Country "A" time (110% of County Time) may swim that particular stroke in either a relay or individual event.
