| Hammerheads 2025 - Registration opening Saturday! |
| Hey Hammerheads! Happy Spring! It’s a beautiful day to get the 2025 swim season rolling, so let's go!
Coaches We are pleased to announce that we have the following coaching staff for 2025: Alyssa Ludlow and McKenna Slough – Co-Head Coaches Gabe Sims – Assistant Coach
Registration Registration for 2025 will open Saturday, March 29th. The cost (per family) is $185 for the first swimmer, $155 for the second swimmer, and $130 for all subsequent swimmers. Families who are not members of the Honey Meadows pool also pay a $25 facility fee per swimmer, with a $50 per family max. Outside memberships to the pool are available but are managed through the Honey Meadows HOA, not the swim team. Please contact [email protected] for more information (we are not able to assist). Registration is through our website: https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/rechmrsc/page/team-registration
Volunteer Training We cannot stress this enough…WE NEED TRAINED VOLUNTEERS!!! The meets cannot run without several very important positions, and JRAC requires those positions to be filled by trained volunteers. We know they might sound intimidating, but we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how straightforward they are. And remember: the more people who CAN do a given job, the fewer times any one person HAS to do that job. JRAC is holding ONE in-person training session day on May 18th, along with virtual training sessions throughout May. Please review the full schedule (click HERE) and mark your calendar. Trainings are free and you can take them for as many positions as you want, whether in-person or virtual. Feel free to take them all, see what they’re about, and decide which positions are a good fit!
Practices We will send out more information on practice time specifics in a future email, but here are the basics: Starting Monday, May 19th (before summer break starts), we will only have evening and Saturday morning practices. Starting Monday, June 2nd, we will have both morning and evening practices (you choose what works best for you for any given day - or come to both!).
Meets All meets are held on Monday nights, usually with a start time of 6:30. The meet dates are as follows: June 2: Away @ Sandston June 9: Away @ Lakeside Park Club June 16: Home (hosting Ginter Park) June 23: Home (hosting Woodmont Recreation Association) June 30: Away @ Antioch July 7: Home (hosting Richmond Country Club)
The JRAC Champs meet for qualifying swimmers will be held on July 16.
Swim Assessments We will hold swim assessments the week of May 12th from 6-8 PM, for all 8 and under swimmers and those swimmers that are new to the team. This is to allow the coaches to assess the swimmers and place them into the correct practice groups based on their ability. This is also a great opportunity to allow for coach assessment for those new swimmers who are on the cusp of being ready for the team. (If you have a swimmer that falls into that category, please register and select the Pay by Cash/Check option so we can evaluate them before you pay fees). A signup sheet will be sent out to registered swimmers the week prior to assessments.
Board of Directors We would really like to have a few more people join the team working behind the scenes to make this team happen. We’d especially like to have someone who can be in charge of concessions for our three home meets, and someone who can be in charge of coordinating our meet volunteers. And if you’re not sure you’re quite up to a full-time role this year, consider shadowing with one of the current board members with an eye to taking over in a future year. Some of us have children aging out, or moving on to other interests, and we don’t want to leave the team scrambling.
As always, please email [email protected] with any questions. Thank you and we are looking forward to a great 2025 season! |
