About Coach Kristian
Hi everyone! My name is Kristian, and I am the new head coach of the Breakers Swim Team! My history with swimming goes way back to my home country of Bulgaria when I was 9 years old. Like many other swimmers, I did many sports before I landed on swimming, and now, 13 years later, I love it more than ever! When I was 9, I went to my first nationals, managing to get 2 medals, which only continued until I turned 14. By then, I had won multiple national titles, 2 international medals, and even held a national age group record with my relay teammates at 12! I was mostly a sprint swimmer, with my main events being 50 and 100 freestyle, having AAAA times in both events when I was 11! Once we moved to the states at 14, I decided to take a break from swimming for a year, and swam all through high school just for fun!

I began working at Goldfish Swim School right when I turned 16, and worked there for 5 years, becoming a manager at 18 years old! I also started coaching at Fox in 2022, helping out TDG and 8U. Since then, I got promoted to TDG Lead Coach, leading my own group of developmental swimmers, and still helping out the 8U, 9/10 and 11/12 age groups! Lastly, this past summer I worked as a lead coach of the 13&O group at Orcas Swim Team (summer swim team in Aurora), helping the team win their Gold meet (same as the City meet) by more than 200 points!

My coaching philosophy has been consistent throughout the years. I want to make sure everyone is having fun and working hard at the same time, giving them the best possible chance to achieve their goals! I also believe that communication between coach and swimmers is key to reaching new highs, and I plan to continue with that! My favorite stroke to work on with swimmers is Breaststroke, because of how technical it is, and how rewarding it is once the swimmer gets it down!

In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends and listening to music! Lastly, I am currently in school with the goal of eventually becoming a psychiatrist or a family doctor!
