What do I need to know about practices and meets?

Practices:

  • Practices are held several days a week. Check the team calendar for exact days and times.
  • Regular attendance helps swimmers build endurance and improve skills.
  • arrive 5-10 minutes early so your athlete can prepare for practice

Meets:

  • Meets are typically on Saturday afternoons from November through January.
  • Each meet can last a few hours or more.
  • We usually have 7meets per season.
  • Swimmers participate in multiple events, including relays.
  • Meets rely on parent volunteers. Each family is required to volunteer throughout the season. (see volunteer page for more information)

Does my child need a team suit?

It is encouraged but not required to get the official team suit.

If you choose not to purchase one, your child must wear one of the following at meets:

  • A plain black swimsuit
  • A previous team suit
  • A high school swim suit

My child has never been on a team before. Do they have to try out?

No tryout is needed. All swimmers are placed in a practice group (Black, White, or Green) based on their:

  • Age
  • Experience
  • Ability

During the first two weeks, coaches will assess if your child can swim one pool length of freestyle (doesn't have to be perfect).

If they cannot, coaches will recommend swim lessons for another year, and your registration fees will be refunded.
