The following rules apply for family jobs for the 2025 season:
1. Based upon the number of meets, every family will have the following job requirements:
a. Six (6) Meet Jobs
b. One (1) Team Job
c. One (1) City Meet Job, if your child is swimming
d. One (1) Conference Meet Job, if your child is swimming
e. One (1) County Meet Job, if your child is swimming an individual event
Families must sign up for the required number of meet jobs. Each family must also sign up for one team job. Team jobs are needed to provide support behind the scenes, so that we can offer a variety of swimming and social activities throughout the summer. All families (save 15/18-only families) must sign up for the total job requirement. Failure to do so will result in their swimmers not being entered into meets.
Families of 15/18-only swimmers are excused for team and meet job requirements; however, they do need to work special meets (City, Conference and County) if their swimmer participates.
2. A limited number of job buy-outs will be available again this year - for $750 you can be relieved of your Meet and Team job duties. Fill out this form if you want to enter your name in for a chance to do a buy out. If you fill out this form and your name is picked, you are committed to paying the $750 buy out fee.
3. Job sign-ups open Sunday, May 4, at 5:00pm
***You will receive a separate email for Job registration with instructions***
4. If you have not signed up for all your jobs by Time Trials your swimmer will not be entered into meets until you do so.
5. For the best selection of jobs and dates, plan to sign up as soon as possible when jobs open.
6. Not attending a meet or being on vacation does not relieve you of your work responsibility.
7. You may hire a sub for meet jobs. Subs must be 16 or older. If your sub doesn't show, you will be fined. You may not hire a sub for your team job. Team swimmers particpating in the meet cannot serve as subs.
8. A list of substitutes may be found on the website under "jobs" after logging in. Substitutes may not work in any meet job that requires training. Snack shack substitues must for 18 or older. Only other Rudgear Rat parent/caretakers may sub for shepherding. Substitutes may not fill any Team job.
9. Parents/Caretakers are responsible for working their meet assignments or obtaining a reliable substitute. No-showing for a job you signed up for creates a burden on everyone else and it's just not cool. If you don't show for a meet job (home, away, or special), the fine is $150. If you miss a second meet job the fine is $300. If you do not perform your Team Job, the fine is $150. You will be notified of this fine and the fine is payable immediatley. Failure to pay fines due will result in swimmers not being entered into meets until the fine is paid. If you feel you are not able to fulfill your job duties for any reason, please contact the meet director or a board member immediately.
10. You must sign the Meet Director's sign-in/sign-out sheet and work our job in its entirey in order to satisfy your job requirement. If you are 15 minutes late or if you leave early, that is considered a no-show and you will be fined.
11. Unless stated otherwise, shifts last the duration of the meet, even if the meet goes overtime.
12. Rugrats and 15-18 families are not required to perform meet jobs or team jobs. However, 15-18 families are required to work special meets in which their swimmer participates.
13. We try our best to be equitable. Questions should be directed to [email protected].
Thank you in advance to all of the parent volunteers - the RATS couldn't do it without you.
