Coach’s Corner
Aloha Rats,
We are off to a strong start this season. Our times speak for themselves. We need to keep the energy level high this week. Larkey this Wednesday on our home turf. Just like the Warriors, we have the Home Court advantage! In order to remind the sharks how spirited we are, we will be doing a GREEN-OUT for the Wednesday night meet!
Also, please encourage all swimmers to start considering the three events they want to swim at Walnut Creek City Meet! Let’s BLEED GREEN with spirit this week. Warm weather + good vibes = pop times!
-Coach Nick
Green Out!!
This Wednesday the weather forecast is calling for a GREEN OUT!! Swimmers, siblings, and parents/caretakers, coming to the meet wearing as much green as possible. Paint your face, spray your hair, get wild! Bring the spirit and let’s show Larkey how we do it at Rudgear. If you still need some RATS swag, check out the spirit shop and snag yourself a BLEED GREEN shirt.
Picture Day & Buddy Day
Tomorrow, June 6th, is both Picture Day and Buddy Day!
For pictures, please arrive between 8am and 10:30am. Come whenever is best for your family – but not everyone can come on the later side, so if you can come earlier please do so. (Even if you don’t want to order pictures, please bring your swimmer by to take their photo so it can be compiled into the team photo.) Check out the flyer for more info.
Swimmers typically wear their team suit for photos. However, we know that not everyone has a team suit. Swimmers can borrow from a friend or wear any suit they prefer.
Buddies will be revealed at 11am! If your swimmer is participating in the Buddy Program, please make sure that they are back at the pool by 11am on June 6th so they can meet their buddy! (If your swimmer cannot attend this event, that’s okay! We will put a note in your family folder letting your swimmer know who their buddy is.)
And if you’re able, please check out the SignUpGenius and sign up to bring some food, drinks, or kick in $10 for pizza.
City Meet
Please commit your swimmer(s) AND choose the events that they would like to swim. Even if you have already declared, please go back in and help your swimmer(s) select strokes. Each swimmer can participate in up to three individual events (15/18s may also add 50 free in addition to three other events). Our coaches will take the swimmers’ selections into strong consideration when choosing the events.
To help inform stroke selection, the schedule for both days is as follows:
| Saturday |
Sunday |
| Individual Medley: 11-12 and up |
Individual Medley: 7-8, 9-10 |
| Free and Fly |
15/18 50 Free |
| Medley Relay |
Back and Breast |
|
|
Free Relay |
|
|
All City All Ages Relay |
|
|
Parent & Coaches relays |
All events are timed finals. There are no qualifying heats.
In addition, some swimmers will be placed in relays. If your swimmer can only be at City Meet for one day, or has to leave early one or both days, please be sure to make a note of their availability in the note area.
The deadline to declare is this coming Friday, June 10th
This is a hard deadline based on our timeline to get entries to WCSC desk.
If you have a swimmer participating in City Meet, you must sign up to work a job. Job sign-ups will go live on June 12th at 5pm. You will sign up for a City Meet job in the same way you signed up for your meet and team jobs. (Log in, go to Team Events and click Job Sign Up on the All-City Meet event.) Please reach out to Ray Elias ([email protected]) if you have questions or need help.
