Coach’s Corner
Aloha Rats,
Happy Fourth of July to all swim families! Thank you for putting so much heart and soul into this swim team. Please be safe and enjoy the summer holiday. Remember we need all the love we can get at conference meet on July 23 & 24. We are looking forward to turning it up a notch at practice upon our return from the holiday. Bless up. Bleed Green. Some Reminders
A few important reminders as we enter into the last month of swim…
1. The baby pool and diving well are closed until 1pm. Please do not let your swimmers or their siblings swim/play in those areas during practice.
2. Meets are incredibly hectic for our coaches; please do not approach them to chat about your swimmer(s) during meets. You can always email Coach Nick, [email protected] and/or our Coach Liaisons, [email protected], if you have a question or need to share something with the coaches.
3. The Lost and Found is overflowing. Please check to see if your swimmer has a towel, clothes, etc. in there.
Green and White Meet | July 9th
Green and White is a fully for-fun meet with different races: backstroke with a rubber ducky on your forehead, race with lost and found garments on, do a relay attached to your buddy, and more! If you are attending this meet, you must also sign up for individual events and relays HERE. First come, first serve!
This meet sheet is a shared document; please follow instructions carefully:
* Please use first & last name to sign your swimmers up for a maximum of four (4) events with at least one (1) event being an individual race.
* Please respect the age-group requirements for the all-ages relays.
* Family relay participation can be in addition to the maximum 4 events.
* Once an event is full, it is full. Do not move swimmers around or change the document to add heats; only plug in your swimmers to available preferred events.
* Heats will be balanced by the green & white desk; your swimmer's heat, lane or competitors may change.
Splash & Dash | July 15th
Our annual Splash and Dash is almost here! One of our favorite Rudgear traditions, Splash and Dash is a fun practice where our swimmers swim a set number of laps and then run a pre-marked course. The winner from each age group gets a pineapple and the runner up gets an orange. It is a super fun day! Make sure your swimmers brings running shoes to practice that day.
We need volunteers to help make the day a success. Check out the Splash & Dash SignUpGenius to grab a job. Please come out and cheer on our Rats!!!
Splash & Dash Breakfast
Splash and Dash is on Friday, July 15th. And in the great tradition of Splashing and Dashing, we want to offer all of our swimmers a yummy breakfast when they finish. If you can, please kick in toward funding the breakfast – the suggested donation is $5. Please donate by July 10th. Thank you in advance for your help and contribution!

Adult Social/Poker Night | July 9th
Don’t forget to sign up for our Social – it’s a Poker Party! (No poker experience needed.) The fun is going down on July 9th starting at 5:30pm at the Elks Lodge (1427 Creekside Drive). Come hang out with Rudgear parents, play a little poker, and maybe even win some prizes! All proceeds raised will go towards supporting our Rudgear Rats swim team. The winner of the poker tournament wins a free pass on jobs for the 2023 swim season!
To let us know that you’re coming, please submit $70 per attendee. Please attach your full name to your payment so we can put you on the V.I.R. (Very Important Rat) entry list for the event.

Lessons
To sign up for lessons, please see our lessons page to access the sign ups. We have lots of swimmers and limited time for lessons, so please be courteous when signing up and leave space for other swimmers to get lessons, too. One to two times per week is a good rule of thumb. Families may not book back-to-back lessons for the same swimmer.
