Riverton Wave Main Team
Any member of the Riverton Country Club, 18 years of age or younger as of June 15th is eligible to participate in the swim team program. To swim competitively on the Riverton Swim Team, a swimmer should be able to complete 1 lap in competition and 10 laps in practice regardless of age. Children who are unable to swim 1 lap of the pool may participate in the Mini-Wave Program. The Mini Wave Program practices Monday through Thursday for 4 weeks. No Miniwave Practice on Fridays.
Mini Waves
Not sure your child is ready for the main swim team? Sign up for the Mini Waves!
If your child is not yet able to swim 25 meters (one length) of the pool or just not quite prepared to compete in meets, the Mini Waves is a great option. The age range is 4-6 year olds. “Practices” are more like group lessons run by the main Swim Team Coaches on Mondays-Thursdays for 4 weeks during the regular swim season.
Within the group, swimmers are typically split up into children who are almost ready to compete and newer swimmers just learning to paddle a few feet on their own. Instruction and stroke technique will vary depending on where your child falls within the group. All Mini Waver’s should be comfortable being in the water and able to hold the wall on their own during the lessons.
Note that if your child shows significant progress or is able to swim legally as the season goes on, there can be an option to move up to the 8 and Under age group on the main swim team.
Prefer private instruction?
The Wave Swim Team Coaches are also available for private lessons which can be arranged and scheduled directly through them at a per-lesson cost determined by the Coaches (note this cost can not be billed to your RCC account). Lessons are not just for young and new swimmers but also for older swimmers who want even more one-on-one stroke technique instruction.
