From Monterey, CA... Keenan Lineback (USD) competed in the 400 IM and set a blistering time of 4:18.91 to earn a spot as tonight's #1 seed! Keenan's time is also an NCAA D-I "B" standard, which means she could earn an invitation to the NCAA D-I National Championships. It is believed that Keenan is the first swimmer, ever, from Myrtle Beach to earn such a standard. Congrats Keenand and good luck tonight!
From Monterey Park, CA... Keenan Lineback, sophomore at University of San Diego, just competed in the 500 free at the MPSF Conference Championships. Her time of 4:54.92 would have put her 4th into Finals. But due to meet rules, she had to race "exhibition." Keenan's time was also just 2 seconds over the U of San Diego school record. Congrats Keenan.
From Athens, GA... Lauren Campbell, freshman at Georgia Southern University, split a 57.5 in the butterfly leg of the GA Southern 400 Medley Relay at the CCSA Championships. Lauren's time, although not "official" because of a relay start, is a personal best. Congrats to Lauren! Riptides' swimmers are tearing things up at their respective championships.
2013 SCS Short-course State Championships The Myrtle Beach Riptides swim team travelled to Greenville, SC for the 2013 South Carolina Swimming State Championships February 15-18. The meet was the largest in the State’s history, hosting over 750 swimmers. Eight members of the Riptides made the trip to Greenville to face the fastest swimmers in South Carolina and a surprise snow shower! 2013 Winter Invite Great Success The Myrtle Beach Riptides hosted their annual Winter Invite January 18-20 at the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center. Over 220 swimmers from teams in SC and NC descended to the area for the competition. Thirty Riptides' swimmers competed and did an outstanding job as well, earning many best times, MBR records and new State Championship q-times. Riptides Compete at Grand Prix #2 Eleven Riptides' made the trip to Charleston for the second event on the Lowcountry Grand Prix circuit. Swimmers continue to compete in events for the first time and improve from previous swims. Below are the highlights. Riptides Perform at CAC Classic In the first full-team meet of the new season, the Myrtle Beach Riptides’ swimmers did an outstanding job. Nearly 40 swimmers from the Myrtle Beach-based swim team competed, many for the first-time ever. Among the highlights include 6 new team records, 4 Age-group Sectional Championship qualifying times and nearly 30 South Carolina Swimming State Championship qualifying standards. SSL Meet #1: The Summer Swim League kicked off June 21 with Summer Swim League Meet #1. Twenty-one Riptides swimmers competed in the event; several competed in their first-ever meet and did an outstanding job. While most swimmers competed in their correct age-groups, several Riptides had to "age-up" one or even two groups because they were too fast! The 2012 US Olympic Swimming Team Trials begins June 25. This is the fastest meet in the world! In order to qualify, a swimmers must finish 1st or 2nd in their event.
