Nashville Aquatic Club had 9 athletes qualify at the 2017 Long Course SE meet for the Southern Zone All-Star championship team. These athletes traveled to Tupelo, Mississippi the week of August 1-4, 2017. Of the athletes selected, Siaka Weidenbaum had outstanding performances in the 13-14 Boys 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly, bringing home with the title in the 100 and qualifying for the futures meet. This past weekend 87 NAC athletes travelled to Huntsville, Alabama to compete in the 2017 Long Course Southeastern Championships. It was a total team effort from beginning to end. The parents pulled together a loud and proud cheering group throughout the weekend and the athletes pulled together to come home with a team title. NAC athletes from across the city represented their summer league teams this past month at their respective championship meets. Five members of the Nashville Aquatic Club travelled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 2017 World Championship Trials and US Nationals. The event, which took place at the historic IUPUI Natatorium June 27-July 1 saw incredibly fast swimming throughout the duration of the event as members of USA Swimming's elite competed for spots on the Long Course World Championship Team, the second most prestigious National team behind the Olympic Games. The BridgeAthletic Summer Sizzler was held at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville from June 22-24, 2017. The meet draws quality competition from across the nation, with teams coming in from Louisville, KY, Newburgh, IN, Chicago, IL, Ruston, LA, and Baltimore, MD. NAC Age group athletes were recognized at this years awards banquet, held Friday, June 2nd on the lawn at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, TN. NAC swimmers enjoyed a picnic and a movie on the lawn at the conclusion of the swimmer recognition. NAC Senior Group athletes had a successful weekend both in the pool and in the lake this past weekend. Julia Jane Eskew, Ella Nelson, Allie Raab, Alex Walsh, and Gretchen Walsh traveled to the Atlanta Classic meet, held on the campus of Georgia Tech University. Casey Charles hit the open water circuit at the Splashville Open Water Challenge at Hamilton Creek here in Nashville, taking home first place in the 5k distance - the longest distance offered - in a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 4 seconds.
